Annihilation- Student Short Film A2

This short thriller has many clues and symbols throughout the narrative. Although the short film is not giving away the story, these symbols let us interpret our own narrative through us knowing the conventions of a thriller.


A murder:

• Death imagery- dead woman laying in a bath
• A woman's eye dissolving as he is walking down the stairs (creating the use of voyeurism) 
• Water running down plughole-reference to life draining away... or possible innocence/purity. (intertextual reference to psycho and the Big Shave)
• Scraping of butter on toast/tapping spoon on mug-violent, un-comfortable sound
• Everyday life continues after murder- makes us feel suspicious. Feel un-comfortable , and slightly creepy how he is un-affected.
