Storyboards are used to help visualise a scene or film and to find potential problems before they occur. They are used for directors to get a clearer image of the film and give them guidelines to how the film will look finalised. Storyboards are genuinely used to help save time and easier to share ideas with others.
This is the storyboard Saul Bass created for Psycho as the famous shower scene. The images show clearly the cinematography for the shots with close ups of the women to show her expressions and mid shots to show more of her body language and location. They show in exact detail how the scene will be seen with each individual shot and the cinematography within. He has also used clear shading to show how the lighting will be presented and we can see he is using low key lighting which is a convention of a thriller film which that we will hope to use in our own.
